Earth Charter US Board Members to Travel to Zambia

Why would 5 Earth Charter US Board members and a volunteer go over 7000 miles to Lusaka, Zambia? While it may be perfectly appropriate to question their sanity, the reason has to do with the Earth Charter being modeled in a true person to person attempt to practice its principles.

Trader Joe's Makes the Jump to Sustainable Seafood

The major food retailer Trader Joe's has announced that it will sell only sustainably sourced seafood by the end of 2012. The company is joining a growing (and welcome!) trend of grocery chains adopting sustainable practices.

Childhood Obesity as a Social Justice Issue

There was an interesting op-ed on Huffington Post yesterday, arguing that childhood obesity should be treated as a social justice issue. The author, who is a former high school teacher in DC & Virginia, talked about the huge difference he saw between the eating habits of his suburban students and those in the inner city school where he later taught.
