Exciting News from Earth Charter US

With the 10th Anniversary of the official launch of the Earth Charter just around the corner, we've been hard at work on some exciting new developments for Earth Charter US. Today, we are thrilled to announce that Earth Charter US is launching a new website! Please take a moment to check out our new content and connect to our new Facebook and Twitter pages.

Over the past 20 years the Earth Charter has provided a rallying point for a global social movement to create a sustainable future for all. Our movement works to build a more just, sustainable and peaceful global society using the principles and values of the Earth Charter. With so many challenges facing our world -- economic calamity, emerging pandemics, war, and climate change, to name a few -- our mission has never been more critical.

Over 6,000 organizational and individual endorsers of the Earth Charter in the United States -- along with you and our wider community -- have developed and applied this document in faith community dialogues, educational curricula, business policies, artistic endeavors, community actions and personal lifestyles. We recognize your efforts to make the Earth charter's vision and principles a reality in the US and greatly appreciate the many resources you have provided for the way forward toward a sustainable United States.

We believe that we are in a transformational time in the United States and the ground is more fertile than ever for a concerted national effort to make the Earth Charter's vision and principles a strong reality at all levels of our society However, the only way we can succeed is if all of us step up and get involved -- and that's the plan behind our new site. With events in the near future like the International Climate Negotiations in Copenhagen, it will take action from all of us to ensure that the principles of the Earth Charter guide our leaders.

We couldn't be more excited about kicking off our big 10th anniversary year in January. Along with the new site, Earth Charter USA has also merged with us, and we'll be launching a number of exciting events and campaigns that we'll want you to be a part of. Working closely with Earth Charter International, based in Costa Rica, Earth Charter US' new online presence will provide resources and tools for Earth Charter supporters to take action and spread the word.

Together, we can realize the Earth Charter's concluding vision of "awakening a new reverence for life, the firm resolve to achieve sustainability, the quickening of the struggle for justice and peace, and the joyful celebration of life."
