Euro-Med Summit on Gender Equality

At a summit entitled "Enhancing Equality between Men and Women in the EuroMed Region," government experts, women's rights leaders and experts met to formulate a plan to address lingering issues of gender equality in countries such as Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, the Palestinian Territories, Syria and Tunisia.

Health Care Reform Signed Into Law

Today, President Obama signed his sweeping and expansive health care reform bill into law. According to Congressional estimates, the plan will cover 32 million Americans who previously had no health insurance. Clinton Stresses Importance of Women's Rights at UN Women's Meeting

She stressed the importance of women's rights not only as a matter of justice but also as a "political, economic, and social imperative".
