SPECIAL AWARD FOR INNOVATION

Company Name: K.B. Industries, Inc.

Over the last ten years, KBI has tapped into a solution for the tire waste problem that can be used to address the conservation of our most valuable resource—water.

KBI has developed a construction material called the KBI Flex Process which consumes immense quantities of waste tires.  This paving material is mixed directly on the installation site and cures in 24 hours.  Most incredible of all is its porosity rate of approximately 2000 gallons per square foot, providing the natural flow of water into the earth (ground water re-charge) instead of the alternative storm water sewers, allowing the replenishment of natural aquifers and maintaining our valuable fresh water supplies.

This product has many uses, including Park Recreational Trails - which are naturally environmentally sensitive. Because of its porosity rate, this material does not affect water quality and can be installed near bodies of water.

As a coastal city, it’s important to note that KBI Flex Process can be also used for erosion control and embankment solutions.
